Wanted Design, now open (as of May 17) in Industry City in Brooklyn and starting Saturday May 20 at the Terminal Stores in Chelsea, has established a welcome reputation for promoting new talent, airing ideas, and bringing together young and seasoned designers from around the world in shows that run through May 23. MODERN Magazine asked contributing editor and veteran show-goer Paul Clemence to anticipate some of the highlights at Wanted Design in Manhattan.
TORU
Based outside Barcelona, Spain, TORU pieces are all hand made using vegetable tanned only leather. For the Babu chair, they folded a single 6 mm-thick leather back on itself to form the backrest into a poetic billowing shape.
