Greta Magnusson Grossman: A Car and Some Shorts (open through May 6th) features the unique modernism of Swedish-American designer and architect Greta Magnusson Grossman. Currently on display in Oklahoma at the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Price Tower Arts Centre, this traveling exhibition originated in 2010 in Stockholm as the first retrospective on the celebrated innovator.
Objects on view include Magnuson’s exemplary furniture, lighting design, original drawings and photographs, film clips, archival materials, and clippings from her press scrapbooks. The components are arranged in unique groupings in order to illustrate the evolution of her career from Sweden to the United States. One of the exhibition highlights is Grossman’s work for Glenn of California. Her cutting edge style is apparent in the rich and colorful textiles complemented by the combination of wood with black plastic laminate and wrought iron.
MODERN Magazine takes a fresh and intelligent approach as it examines buildings and interiors, furniture and objects, craft and art—delving into the creative process and offering sage advice for both the seasoned and novice collector or connoisseur.
